5 LinkedIn Features You May Have Missed
LinkedIn is a social network for professionals, a place to create an online resume, connect with people in your field or potential employers, and stay up-to-date with the latest news in your industry. Most people only use the basic features of LinkedIn, but the social media platform has other very useful features, but sometimes they are hidden or not widely used by users.
Here are 5 useful LinkedIn features you might have missed:
1. Portfolio in profile
A few months ago, LinkedIn launched “Portfolios” that can be added to your resume or to sections of your profile such as experience and education. This feature is especially useful if you are an artist or work with visual objects (graphic designer, illustrator, director, architect, photographer...). You can simply add a direct link to a website/blog/video or upload the desired file. The portfolio will be displayed directly on your profile. Go to the “Edit your profile” tab and follow the instructions.

2. LinkedIn Pulse
LinkedIn Pulse is LinkedIn News, a feed where you can see articles from users on a variety of topics. You can choose the topics that interest you most (what you want to see in Your News), see popular articles from influencers and leaders (Top Posts), and browse all available feeds (Discover). It’s a great place to read interesting articles from your peers and people in your industry, as well as identify and connect with thought leaders.
3. LinkedIn Education
This new LinkedIn feature allows you to “follow” university and college pages in the same way you “follow” company pages. Here you can find other alumni from your school or follow news from your university. The Education feature will also be a great tool for employers to target alumni for potential future employees.

4. Your contacts database
LinkedIn recently offered its users the ability to sync contact information from other platforms, such as Gmail. If you do this, you’ll see a combined list of contacts you’ve recently interacted with on both LinkedIn and other platforms on your Contacts page. You’ll also see relevant profile information for each contact. On your Contacts page, click the wheel icon in the upper right corner to select the email platforms you want to sync with LinkedIn.
5. Marking of contacts
You can assign specific tags or keywords to each of your contacts to categorize them and make them easier to find. For example, you can tag your coworkers, former classmates, organize people by occupation, and so on. When you are on the contacts page, hover over someone's name and click the "tags" button to add a keyword.

Another feature that can be useful for making new connections is the “Who Viewed Your Profile” option. However, this feature is only fully available to LinkedIn users who have a premium account.
